Pro Development Institute was born in 2014, and as they say, the rest is just a dive away.
He returned to South Africa due to family issues, continuing his teaching at local Dive Centres.
In 2014, the Pro Development Institute (PDI) was started to concentrate solely on Professional Scuba Diving Courses.
As a Platinum Pro 1000 SSI Instructor Trainer he has the experience, knowledge and ability to provide a professional course while still having fun.
He finally ended up with the European Diving Centre in Icmeler, Turkey, First as Chief Instructor and later as Operations Director. As a dive center with 4 locations diving over 4000 divers and issuing over 1000 certifications a season it was a demanding and exhilarating time. Ernest also ran the internship program, attended many Instructor Training Courses and conducting professional level programs.
After spending a 3 week coastal survival camp in Hermanus, South Africa way back in 1991, Tinus fell in love with the ocean and all it has to offer. It was only in 1997 however that he manage to sign up for a Open water Scuba course. That was the beginning. He completed courses up to Rescue Diver in 1999. Spending every holiday at the coast and racking up the dives.
Tinus was then given the opportunity to enroll in a internship program in Turkey in 2002. He grabbed this with both hands and left South Africa to travel the world. He qualified as Instructor in 2002.
He qualified as a PADI Staff Instructor in 2003. The next 3 years were spent travelling and teaching around the world.
2006 brought a teaching break for Tinus who then started and operated a logging business in the beautiful province of Mpumalanga , South Africa . Realising that not teaching diving caused immense withdrawal symptoms, he quit the forestry business end of 2012 and invested all his energy into the start up and development of Blue Wave Scuba, Nelspruit.
Ernest started his diving career in 1985 as an Open Water Diver with
the intention of starting the first police diving unit in Cape Town.
From that first experience of cold water and kelp, the foundation
was laid to one day become a dive professional. Relocating to
Sabie in Mpumalanga gave him access to the warm waters of
Natal and Mozambique where he completed his DiveMaster in 1997.
Finally deciding to take the plunge, he did his Instructors course in
2000 and proceeded to work with Dive Centres in the area. Feeling
that there was more to life he packed up and did a Resort
Management Course with ProDive in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA.
To cut a long story short he proceeded to work around the world
for the next 10 years in amazing locations such as the Caribbean,
South Pacific, Red Sea, United States and the Mediterranean Sea.
